Transport Companies Love New GPS Devices

without comments

New GPS devices are giving vehicle fleet companies more power than ever before. Sat Navs and GPS tools of old could only let the driver know about their locations, which directions to take and speed etc. New GPS tools however are a great deal more powerful and can send this information out to a receiving computer anywhere on earth, which is pretty neat. A taxi company or travel company for instance would benefit enormously. Here we take a closer look at what they can do

Speeding. Not only can they tell the driver how fast the vehicle is going, but they can also tell an operator. Some devices can show if the driver is accelerating or breaking too aggressively. What this means is that good drivers can be rewarded and bad drivers given warnings

Petrol. Stats released by Jump The Sun show that drivers, especially in the taxi trade, would claim petrol money from their employers for miles that were covered whilst not on work hours. The tachometer could always be looked at but this only showed the miles traveled and doesn’t say when and where. Now however, there can be no arguments as employer can see the exact route drivers took, when they took it and at what speed. They can even pick up traffic reports

Location. Drivers can get to a new location much faster and more efficiently when their locations are mapped by a central operator. Calls don’t now have to put out to all drivers to discover their current position, the operator can simply check their computer and dispatch the vehicle which is closest.

GPS Car Tracking – Is That Vital?

without comments

GPS navigation is widely used at this time, but GPS navigation has more useful aspects. In GPS navigation there is an additional tool which can serve your car’s security.
For many companies GPS car tracking is the solution that solves many security problems. Government institutions, the police and the army heavily rely on GPS car tracking to limit criminality there are also private users, civilians that rely on such technology. Information on the position of an asset is provided by a small unit attached to the vehicle. A GPS car tracking unit could also record the data or simply transmit it to a computer, a cellular or some other form of central database. The transmission of the signal is not possible unless the GPS car tracking device has an incorporated modem in its structure.

Then, the GPS car tracking system displays the data on a map monitor. The tracking device also contains a memory card. Although the GPS car tracking system works great for preventing car theft or for different criminal investigations, a GPS device is suitable when hiking or jogging too. Sometimes, by means of a GIS system, you can collect data for future mapping, particularly since a GPS receiver serves for such geo-catching purposes perfectly well.

Mobile phone GPS tracking or GPS car tracking can serve well for more complex investigations from the business environment. When commercial fleets are used, the GPS car tracking units are installed in the vehicles in such a way so that the location is constantly pinpoint, and periodical updates continue to be sent at regular intervals. The data provided by the GPS car tracking system can also be displayed in the form of reports, a system that is widely used both in Europe and in North America.

Delivery and taxi vehicles, luxury automobiles and armored trucks are equipped with GPS car tracking units for a continuous monitoring of the vehicle location. With more special units, one can activate the tracker via a SMS but only in theft cases. The device is thus incredibly efficient for the authorities that deal with lost or stolen vehicles cases. Very often GPS car tracking systems are installed on race cars particularly in the case of long circuits in areas that are more difficult to access.
