A Review Of Elecric Schwinn Scooters

without comments

Back during the mid 20th century, Schwinn was the unquestioned king of the bicycle market. Everyone knew that getting a Schwinn bike was almost like your parents buying a Cadillac automobile. The bikes were ruggedly built and made to last, so the outstanding reviews they received were definitely deserved. Now in the 21st century, Schwinn is producing a line of electric scooters which are receiving mixed reviews from consumers. When I read the first negative reviews, I was disappointed due to my memories of Schwinn quality. However, as I kept reading what people had to say, I started to wonder if, like so many other companies, Schwinn’s quality standards have slipped.

One of the Schwinn models that many people have purchased is the S350. Many reviewers have commented that it is built sturdily; however, there are also quite a few who stated they have had mechanical or electrical problems that neither the store they purchased it from or the company that made it was willing to address. Complaiants include batteries not holding a charge, less than expected power, chains that will not stay in place and instructions that were difficult to follow.

On another site the Schwinn 400 electric scooter was only given a 3.4 out of a possible 5 stars. Again, although some who reviewed the 400 stated they were pleased with its performance, others had more problems than expected. One reviewer commented on the short battery life, stating that his children can only use their scooter 15-20 on a full charge without the battery running down. The owners manual even clearly states that in order for the battery to last as long as possible, operating at full throttle should be avoided. Although it is claimed that the 400 can travel as much as 8 miles per charge, actual users find 2-3 miles to be more achievable.

The Schwinn 500CD seems to have fared better with reviewers, receiving 4 of 5 stars as an overall rating. People who like this scooter say it’s ideal for running errands because it saves up to half the money on gas mileage. They commented that it has great speed and acceleration, the battery is long-lasting and powerful, and that it’s well-designed with cool styling. Detractors, however, found that their batteries didn’t last long, and when they went to replace them, they cost half the price of a new scooter. In addition, they once again mention that Currie Technology, the company that manufactures Schwinn products, refused to do anything about the problems they were having.

It’s always difficult to know what to expect from a product when you find such mixed reviews. Ratings ranged from 1 star to 5 with some reviewers advising potential buyers to stay away from all Schwinn products and others saying that’s the only brand they would ever want to buy. When purchasing a Schwinn electric scooter, you want to find a store or a website that offers you guaranteed satisfaction and clearly spells out what it’s position will be if there’s anything wrong with the scooter you buy. Buyers should rightly be wary of a company that is not willing to stand behind its product.

Electric Scooters To Fight Fueling Gas Cost

without comments

There are three types of motorcycles. They are the street bikes, the off-road bikes and dual purpose bikes. Street bikes are further categorized as cruisers, mopeds and scooters amongst others. The off road motorcycles are not for the roads but specifically for racing. The dual purpose motorcycles are used for racing and have also features that permit it to be used on the roads.

The high automobile pollution and traffic congestion are reasons that make motorcycles make headway amongst vehicles on the road. Its carbon emissions are lower. It has better fuel efficiency as compared to other vehicles on the road. The fuel economy is primarily due to its smaller mass. Though motorcycles rate better in terms of greenhouse gas emission, the total pollution per mile is ten to as much as twenty times when compared to a car. Motorcycles produce more nitrogen oxide which is a byproduct of combustion and a major component of smog. The lower efficiency of its catalytic converters is the main cause of emission of nitrogen oxide.

In recent times, the motorcycle market has shown an upward swing. The global market grew by 6.5 percent despite the global economic downturn. Or perhaps the growth has been fuelled by the economic downturn and the increase in fuel cost. The market for electric scooter is also on the rise. Electric scooters run on battery instead of gasoline. These silent scooters, though with lower speed, have better fuel economy. With gasoline price steadily increasing, electric scooter becomes an option. It is very less polluting in terms of air and noise pollution. Better battery technologies are expected to make it more popular. There are many electric scooters on the road such as Eped Sport/City, Vectrix VX-1, ZAP Zapino, E-Solex, Yo Speed, Razor E200S electric scooter, EVT-4000e, Peugeot Scoot’Elec and Io-scooter, Ezip Electric Scooters.

Motorcycle sales are highest in the Asian countries of China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam. Motorcycle owners are more than the other vehicle owners. Motorcycle owners are double the number of automobile owners in Taiwan. Registration of motorcycle increased by 50 percent in the United States. It is a common means of transport in the frontier towns of Latin America.

Replacing Gas With Battery

without comments

Scooters are distinguished from other categories of motorcycles with its protective leg shield, step-through frame and footboard. Its wheels are generally smaller than other motorcycles. The scooters are further classified into electric scooters, mobility scooters, gas scooters, motorized scooters and kick scooters.

The most common scooters in the market and on the road are the gas scooters. Their engines are powerful and range from 50cc to as much as 250cc. There is the classic step-through frame as well as the sportier looking scooters. Some are meant for city driving while others are designed for highway driving. Scooters have a better mileage than other vehicles with up to even 75 miles per gallon. They are easily maneuverable and need little space for parking. Mobility scooters are designed to enable the handicapped and the elderly to move around in the neighborhood safely and slowly. They have a speed ranging from 5 to 10 miles per hour. Scooters specially designed for the teenagers are the motorized scooters. Their engines are smaller of 50cc or lesser. These are called mopeds, segways, standup or gas scooters and seated scooters. These scooters have a lower traveling range of 5 to 20 miles and speed ranging from 8 to 20 miles per hour. But these are trendy. These are less expensive and have a better gas mileage.  Kick scooters or Push Scooters are meant for kids. These have no engines and are the most eco-friendly. They have a push and glide motion where the legs are used for pushing. These can be taken to school and easily transported. They are also very cheap.

Another class of scooters is the electric scooters. They do not use gasoline and instead run on battery motors. Electric scooter owners need no longer be worried about the increase in gas price. Electric scooters comes in a variety of models such as Vectrix VX-1, Eped Sport/City, E-Solex, ZAP Zapino, Razor E300S seated electric scooter , Yo Speed, Peugeot Scoot’Elec, EVT-4000e, Ezip Electric Scooters and Io-scooter.

Electric scooters have low emissions. The scooter is almost noiseless. However it moves at slower speeds. It runs smaller distances before the next recharge is required which is a plug-in. Some of the models of electric scooters are cheaper than the gas scooter.

Why Not Electric Scooters?

without comments

With the doom and gloom on the economy expected to continue to next year and perhaps will remain in the next 2 years have caused consumers to cut down on their spending. One of the big ticket items is actually transportation, in this case our private own cars which could leave a big dent on our monthly budget if the price of crude oil continues to be unpredictable. With rising living cost and job uncertainties, these are the things that we can possibly cut down. One of the ways to reduce our reliance on cars is to use alternative transportation such as public transport or electric vehicles eg. Electric scooter or bike. Electric scooters are particularly suitable for single working adult who live between 1-10 miles from their office. The price of an electric scooter is not expensive ad it ranges from £300-£3,000 depending on the type and model. Not only that it reduces the need for fuel consumption, it’s also friendly to the environment and I think it’s about time we do something for mother nature after all these years of taking from her. Electric scooters, which run on batteries that can be recharged from a domestic socket, are predicted to take off this year, as the price of fuel leaves many commuters with increasingly high transport costs. Zooming at 40 to 50 km per hour (about 20 miles) doesn’t seem like real speed these days especially with some modern sports cars and bikes that are capable to do 300-400 km an hour. But what if you do not need to pay for gasoline anymore to travel at the lower speed. I think most working class people wouldn’t mind the slower pace but could save hundreds or thousand of dollars per year on fuel is worth it all especially during the current economy climate. Well the good news is that we can do that now especially with the improvement of alternative fuel vehicles. We have the hybrid engine car where it has both electric and gasoline engine for better fuel consumption and friendlier to the environment and it’s also suitable for families with kids. However if you are single and looking for something economical to travel within the city, look no further, I highly recommend that you buy an electric scooter.

There have been a great interest in electric scooters in the recent years and a few new companies have entered the market. Two of them that have entered the market in the last month in a hope to cash in drivers that are being hit by the high price of petrol, combined with the increasing desire to cut down their carbon emissions. Ego and E-Max, both of whom launched their scooters last month, have had great success since they started selling their vehicles. E-Max has sold about 200 of its more powerful £2,760 vehicle in the last three weeks. One of the most popular electric scooters is Xtreme scooters. The price range for a new  Xtreme electric scooter is between US150 to 900 depending on the model. If you want a speedier scooter, I would recommend the Xtreme-XB500 and for the entry level, the Xtreme  X10 will be a good buy. Further more, most cities especially in the UK nowadays are offering free parking for electric scooters and its kind in order to encourage the people to switch to this type of transport. Another extremely popular scooter is the Ego. priced at about USD1000, the Ego’s bike looks astonishingly cheap and people might be willing to experiment with it to keep their cost of living low in the coming days.

Some of the electric scooters also have a motor-protected circuitry that enables the scooter to move ahead and gain speed even before the assist starts working. So when the throttle-switch is released, the unique design of the electric scooters allow the motor to coast or “freewheel” in a way most commonly seen in regular bikes. The electric scooters can be truly enjoyable as they have an easy acceleration that helps them to glide smoothly through heavy winds as well as climb hills smoothly.

There are obviously different types of scooters and I’m not talking about the brand or model but the general classification of electric scooters irregardless of the manufacturer. The first type is zappy or the lower end (entry level) scooter which can reach a maximum speed of 10-12 km an hour. Next is the flyer which could do up to 20 km an hour and it’s gaining popularity due to its maneuvering simplicity.  Finally the most advance type is the Voloci where it comes with many modern features like selectable performance models, quick-swap battery packs, key ignition.

How then does an electric scooter operate? It’s combination of electrical power from the batteries and feed it to the motor which the heart of the scooter. The speed is handled with a variety of switches and together with the handlebars and brakes provides the handling of the scooter. Some of the newer electric scooters come with computerised controls just like the modern cars to make the ride even smoother and safer.

The best way to know whether electric scooters are for you or not will be to try out one at your nearest showroom or retail shop. I can guarantee that once you ride it, it’s difficult to give it up. I was also once a sceptic but after seeing my friends and colleagues enjoying themselves with their scooters, I just didn’t want to be left out!
