Ambulance, The Emergency Vehicle
A vehicle used to transport the sick or injured to and from a place of treatment is called an ambulance. It also provides emergency medical care to patients. Ambulances were first introduced by the Knights of St John in Europe. Ambulances offer a number of services. They provide emergency care to the ill and injured. They transport patients for medical treatment to and from a hospital. They may reach an acutely ill person to a hospital. Though commonly ambulances refer to motor vehicles, trucks, station wagons and vans are also used as ambulances. Aircrafts, helicopters, boats and ships too provide these same emergency cares and are also known by the same term ‘ambulance’.
Ambulances are emergency vehicles. They need to move fast unhindered by the traffic on the roads. The flashing warning lights and the loud sirens announce the ambulances to the traffic on the road. The traffic on the road gives way to the ambulance so that they can easily pass them. Ambulances are externally designed in a particular manner which makes them easily identifiable. They also sport symbols prominently. The symbols as per the Geneva Convention such as the Red Cross, Red Crescent and Red Crystal are featured prominently.
Ambulances are usually built by specialized manufacturers of vehicle as they are customized according to the specifications of the clients. There are a number of options that are available which can be integrated into the ambulance. The options have become almost unlimited with the advancement of medical technology. The only limitation that seems to exist is that of the investment required. As a result, it makes sense to check ambulances for sale and modify them according to your need.
There are different configurations and designs used in the manufacture of ambulances. Ambulances are also manufactured with standard design and specifications. They can be modified. Or ambulances can be made to specifications of the clients. It can have a single stretcher or double stretcher. Features such as touch screen panels to control the temperature and activate hydraulics that lower the rear end of the ambulance to assist patient access. Modern ambulances may have a range of equipments such as patient monitor, suction unit, emergency drugs, syringes and needles, oxygen, ventilator, infusions, intubation equipments and other useful emergency medical equipments. They are manned by trained medical or paramedical personnel.
