Growing up in Detroit, the motor city, I got to see lots of classic autos for sale.  Folks would drive around in Trans Ams, Firebirds, Mustangs, and all those other American muscle cars.  The problem was that during the winter, Michigan uses rock salt to solve its ice Problems.  This corrodes the cars, causing them to rust prematurely.  The one model that I gained the most respect for was the automobile that never seemed to age the eternally youthful Corvette.  With their fiberglass bodies, even 1962 Corvettes for sale seemed to be in tip-top condition. 

From the time I used to be a teen, it was my dream to have a Corvette for sale.  One of my friends was really into Trans Am’s, except for me that wasn’t where it was at.  Corvettes were the best.  They mixed the power of the American muscle cars with an exotic, sporty look.  Although the most recent Corvettes were awesome, the old ones are my favorite.  I was not a large fan of used cars for sale generally, but old Corvettes, with their exaggerated sensuous curves, were dream machines to me. 

However, I didn’t have plenty of cash.  New cars For sale were out of the problem of course.  Even most classic Corvettes , however , were beyond my.  I had to discover a cheap used car, or I would not have any auto.  I kept away from the lots that specialised in Corvettes for sale.  Most of those were visited by connoisseurs, and that drove the price up.  Instead, I went to some nearby used car lots until I found it : a work over but drivable 1973 Corvette.  I knew that it wasn’t in good condition, and that it would probably take a large amount of work, but I was still overjoyed when I found it.  Of course , there weren’t many Corvettes for sale within my price range. 

One of the things that you have to realize when you buy Corvettes for sale is that the body almost always looks better than what’s going on inside.  That isn’t to assert Corvette don’t ware well they do.  The problem is simply that, barring a serious crash, a fiberglass Corvette body will last forever.  If you really want to know if the automobile is in good condition, you’ve got to get under the hood.  When I did, I was decidedly unhappy.  It needed lots of work.  Nevertheless, I knew some folks with experience in cars to show me everything I wished to know.  I took it to buy class, and worked on it after school.  Soon, I had one of the meanest machines on the road.

The arrival of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray heralded major changes in the march onward in the Chevrolet Stingray. The Sting Ray was available as both a “Roadster “version with a removable hardtop and a “Coupe” occasionally known as a fastback.

Onwards from 1963 to 1967 the Sting Ray got even better with a greater number of options for both luxury and power performance. This was the heyday of the days of sports auto customizers. And the Corvette Sting Ray was the ideal a hundred p.c. raw material for the sports automobile customizers. Headlights were molded and in and the bumpers were removed. The word Corvette invokes the picture of high performance sports vehicle performance. An older age group replaced the street racer cult as the primary patrons and purchasers of the Vette. More and more of the Corvettes were provided with such luxury and comfort options as air conditioning, power steering and telescoping steering columns. It wasn’t long before the Corvette with emission devices and soon the genuine ‘Vette sort of performance was history.

Partly it seemed to be a case of limited supply and very high prices being offered by the stock type Corvettes and classic car auctions and the prices being asked in the special automobile groups and publications. Really it can be said it can be a combination of the custom autos getting old and needing refurbishing and the 55 mile speed limit in the time. Perhaps as well it was a query of maturity on the kids who were the Corvette hot rodders at the time.
